RE: [RC] Shelters at vet checks - Kristen A FisherLast year in mid-Dec, I got a couple 12x12 Easy Up ones from Amazon for $40 and free shipping so check there since they are technically out of season then I guess...? Angie is right, the cheap ones will send you into therapy trying to assemble them. And a vey cool idea we learned from Gail Zeck, is get 8 gallon jugs and loooong bungies, and anchor each corner with these. If you stake them down solidly, they will get bent and ruined [in TX weather anyway]. But if they are on these bungees with 64# of H2O at each corner, it can move with the wind but won't go anywhere and won't take the brunt of the wind on the frame. Found some at Cabela's... all kinds of neat stuff. Some are about 12' x 15' or so, and I'm not sure I want to take up that much real estate in a cramped vet check environment. Might do it, though. Some of the shelters can accept bug screens or weatherscreens, too. Very cool. I've probably bought 5 of those $20 ones through the years with cheap tarps, ties to stakes, rickety poles... this thing is GREAT. I got the 12x12 instead of the smaller one. I'd go for a new one. They kept improving them and making them simpler to put up. Jody's practically got more of those things than she has blankets. I think she's got one over every horse at the trailer and one per horse at her crew area.
