Good point. And although the connection between mtDNA and energy utilization has not been established, the fact that the mitochondria regulate energy usage makes this a particular area of interest. Also keep in mind that "environment" begins at conception--so the cloned foal at birth has already had 11 months of a different environment than the chromosome donor did.
