Re: [RC] which breed is best? - Truman PrevattIn '96 after we did ROC I decided it was time to breed my mare (TWH). She was 15 and the old clock was running out. I had bought an Arab to replace her. He passed two vet exams with flying colors. He was not an endurance horse - I knew it after 3 months of conditioning. I sold him after a couple of rides. He's now owned by a lovely young lady in St. Pete and loved to death by her.I was bestowed my wifes Arab, a.k.a. the Jbird when that happened 11 years ago. The Jbird is a wonderful horse. We are a decade team. He keeps on trucking. However, he can't hold a candle as an endurance horse to the Hell Bitch - who if anyone missed the fact is a TWH. So just because it is an Arab doesn't mean it's cut out for the sport. There are good endurance horses of many breeds. You just have to find them and know them when you find them. Truman Barbara McCrary wrote: How very true that statement is. I once owned and attempted to compete on two Arabs that were not at all suited to endurance riding. -- “It doesn't matter how beautiful your theory is, it doesn't matter how smart you are.
