[RC] re: Hallelujah 100 & best breeds for endurance - Mary HowellAngie - Thanks for posting details of the Hallelujah 100 and other distances for those of us who couldn't make it! I'm thrilled that Kyle finished his first 100 and Wendy Mancini & her QH also finished..she is a great ride buddy. (I wished I'd been able to hang with her at Big South Fork 100, but wasn't willing to do more than 20 miles in pitch dark!) Wendy's grey QH (2nd QH she is using in endurance) is called Dusty Grand Bonanza and his muscles on upper front and back legs make Shiloh (a 1/2 QH) look like a total wimp. "Danza" is living proof that even a traditionally built QH can do well at our sport, if trained for it. I also wanted to add to Libby's post on TBs in endurance that several full TBs (not Anglo Arabs) have finished and even won the OD 100 over the years. My first horse was a TB and he had the BEST temperament - some of them are a lot less "hot" then the average Arab. - Mary in VA (whose never thought she'd end up with narrow-built 1/2 Saddlebred for her "new" endurance horse) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
