[RC] Differences between a Duck ride - Peggy B-Smith

David, the Death Valley Ride or DVE as you see it referred to, is a great multi-day.
To me, it has as many "amenities" as other rides - vets, lunch, some stuff for the horses, water, but it dies have the added problem of having to move your rig, usually twice, though there are people available to do this.
I did all four days 2 years ago and started to go last year when we discovered we had a cracked rim on our Ford and couldn't find a replacement in time.
The ride is rocky - I would definitely recommend pads and you never know what the weather is going to be. It can snow, blow, shine, rain - you don't know!
A Duck ride to me is all about taking responsibility for your horse - but shouldn't all rides be that way? There have always been at least 2 vets and he seems to have very few, if any, treatments at his rides.
I have done Bryce, Cuyama and DVE and never had any problems. Actually, this is the first year DVE is going to be a Duck ride. It has always been Jackie Bumgardner's ride.
I would definitely recommend it. There is water there for the horses, dinners available after each day of riding, and a really fun New Year's Eve party -
Bring champagne!
