The Bob Marshall the Bob Marshall Wilderness was named after received his PhD in botany from Johns Hopkins in the early 1900's and went off to become a forester. His passion - along with Aldo Leapold was the preservation of the natural they saw around them. Not preservation as some see today of locking man out but the preservation of open spaces that could be enjoyed by man.

Bob Marshall is given credit for starting the Wilderness Society and both he and Leapold are given much credit for the creation of the Wilderness act. The first Wilderness Area was named after Bob Marshall.

Amazingly enough Bob Marshall was born in New York City.

As I mentioned in a previous post, I really do not believe the above
mentioned person, is the same one who is the president of Sports Saddle Inc.
if so, he would not be 106 years old.  :-)
