[RC] GSFTR - Peter HarperHey Kathy! I'm glad we could give you a lift. You looked sooo desperate all saddled up with no ride to the start. Like you, I had to hitch a ride on Day 1. Our big gooseneck couldn't make it over the railroad tracks. That was the great thing about this ride. Everyone pitched in to make it happen. I was really sorry to hear about you and Blue's trouble on Day 3. I hope he's OK. That bridge was wicked, it must have been WW-II surplus. My mare convinced me to go through the ravine instead. Yes, there were plenty of breeds other than Arabs and plenty of guys in cowboy boots and jeans. On Day 4 I passed a rider who jogged in the last 14 miles in jeans, chaps and a cowboy hat. He cheated a little wearing running shoes under the chaps. I hope you can get Dawson to keep riding endurance. I first met him in Fort Stanton on his qualifying ride and then again at GSF. Real nice guy and a hell of a rider. I hope to see you on the trail again soon, Pete in TX ----------------------------------------------------- From: magnumsmom@xxxxxxx Subject: Re: Perhaps the Fresno reporter should have done some research before publishing that article... there were lots of QH's, western saddles, 10 gallon hats, and Cowboys at the Great Santa Fe Trail Horse Ride: http://www.santafenewmexican.com/Local%20News/4horse_race Of course Dawson was in jeans, but not cut-off jeans.? I know for a fact that it's an editorial typo, not the reporter.? :)? :)? :)? Dawson had his supplies strapped behind his saddle wrapped in a leg cut off of a pair of jeans.? Everyone was treated equally.? We had a blast at least for the 3 days Blue and I were there.? Matter of fact, Pete's rig stopped to pick us up because we needed a ride to the start of Day 2 (no crew).? Hi Pete!?
