RE: [RC] Uzes - Young Horses Finals - heidiEven USA breeders of endurance horses still have to deal with the cast offs (not every horse bred for endurance will be a good endurance horse). That is the nature of breeding - especially breeding for racing performance. This is the crux of it, though--breeders in the USA CANNOT make a go of it, precisely because they are not supported by the riders, who are willing to go through a bunch of cheaper cast-offs (although they usually spend more money in the long run than they would if they bought one good one). It's true that not every horse bred for the sport is superlative--but the vast majority of them are sound, sane competitors, and the odds of getting a superlative one are incredibly higher.
