Re: [RC] GSFTR - rides2far@xxxxxxxxAngieYou presupposed some things incorrectly in your comparison. I had not just trained the horse for 5 months. The 500 miles was the >>>>mileage on the horse in the five months. I had trained on the >>>>horse for a year before his first ride. It was also the only ride >>>>that I did on him that entire year. Keith, Merlynn wasn't straight out of the field either, but aside from that. All I've been doing is trying to point out why I don't find it heinous that someone who heard of a new person coming to their first ride and planning to "go for it" made an attempt at discouraging that person to do so. By all means, let it rip. I'm going to be going very slow for the next couple of years so it certainly makes no difference to me whether I'm finishing 34th or 35th. I've seen a lot of people come and go in this sport. Some are flashes in the pan, some hang around and prove that they're the real deal. I never know what I think about a person's program till I've seen how it turned out over time. All I'm saying is unless that person was planning on going for the same "win" you were going for and didn't want the competition...what do you think their motive was in trying to slow you down? If it was to protect your horse from your enthusiasm what is so horrible about that? If you see someone getting ready to make what you consider a mistake...will you mention it to them or just watch it play out?
