Re: [RC] Quality vs. quantity - rides2farSince I'm in the process of training a new horse I appreciate more than ever having my horses at home. I can go out and mess with him 10 minutes while I'm letting the dishes soak in the morning. Go back out and do 30 min. during the heat of the day when he's napping in the stall, then get him out in the evening and do more. I like little short lessons so he doesn't get frustrated or bored. When you say quality vs. quantity I immediately picture non-custodial parents trying to say they get more "quality" time in with their kids since they give them their whole attention for a weekend at a time. I'd rather my kids had their dad in there in his study reading a book, ignoring them most of the day but right there when needed. I do envy some of the perks at boarding facilities, like round pens & arenas. I sat on 7 twice in the yard with a saddle, then today had Josie pony us down the trail. A narrow trail was the safest place I had to train him. Much better than the barn lot with hay trailers, lawn mowers, etc. to come off on if worse came to worse. P.S. He was *wonderful*. :-))) Angie =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
