correct me Steph and john if I am wrong but this topic pertains to all of
the horses and to us and our decisions to sell horses and whether or not they
are going to a good home or better yet are they going to meet a very brutal
death??? I have bought several horses at an auction and spent the first 6 years
of my life at the Chino Auction with my stepfather who was a horse trainer and
shoer. I think it is appropriate as I want to know what happens to my endurance
horse when they are traded from one hand to another. I will be the first to tell
you that I voted to the no slaughter rule without any thought to the
eventual outcome of the horse's final destination. I know I missed the
mark in voting as my real concern is the way the horses are transported and
slaughtered not the actual act of slaughtering these wonderful creatures. This
act can be done in a humane way and its no skin off of anyone's back. They are
our national treasures and should be treated as a national treasures. There
has to be a solution that will benefit all the horses and parties in question.
So brainstorming is the key here and hopefully we can all come together
for the good of the horse.
