The biggest myth of all about horse slaughter is that this is an issue
that is anywhere *near* the top of 95% of horse owners' most pressing
concerns.

That is the BIG lie.  Sure, you can goad most people into expressing
an opinion about it, even debating about it.  But the truth is that
if that 5% led by Beau Derrick and the PETA crowd hadn't hired
professional political consultants and figured out how to pirate
and monopolize the agenda of organizations such as AQHA, the American
Horse Council, and even--lord help us--the US Congressional Horse
Caucus and the floor time of the US House of Representatives,
this "issue" wouldn't even be making a blip on the radar.

Horse Slaughter is the Flag Burning Amendment of the horse industry.

Meanwhile, the Right To Ride bill died.
