You
don't get access to the AHA database for this but it gives you a
discount. It looks like there's certainly inflation involved in this
calculation because in 40 years - the dues would change a
lot.
No one gets anything different - a real pet peeve of ours. AHA has its head
in the clouds as far as fees so should not be imitated in any decision AERC
makes. When the goal is (as it has appeared to be for a few decade now with AHA)
to support, promote and fund the higher echelons of competition (instead of
supporting the sustenance of quality horses of its breed or in AERC's case
discipline)then the rank and file take the brunt of service cuts as well as cost
increases without commensurate value. Perhaps a better plan - as many AHA clubs
do now - is the multi year renewal - 3 or 5 or even 10 year renewals with a
decent fee rewarding those who DO choose to renew for multiple years. I for one
would be so inclined. Frankly, I wouldn't even mind a lifetime renewal except
that most people cannot afford it - in AHA so many people have their "business"
write off stuff, it does not matter. Of course, many of them either started OUT
with $$ or made a ton of it by SPENDING a ton of it so it is no issue. Any guess
that a $1000-$3000 lifetime renewal would not bring in a lot of people?
So how about a multi year renewal with perhaps a small perk for each higher
level of renewal....have to mull over what that might be. Might cut down on
paper work for AERC as well.
