[RC] Another reins question - Jennifer Fleet

I was wondering if yacht rope reins made with brass scissor snaps and NO slobber straps will break easily enough if a horse got loose, started running, and got a leg through the reins.

I see a lot of reins for sale w/out the slobber straps, and I always thought you had to have them to be safe, so they'd break if necessary. My current beta reins have them. I think I got them from Moss Rock about 5 or 6 years ago, and they told me slobber straps, or at least a buckle in the middle of the reins, was very important for safety. But all the reins I'm looking at come with just brass scissors snaps and a conway buckle.

Is the brass hardware weak enough so it will break if it needs to?

Thx,
Jennifer
