Years ago that happened to one of my horses while he was jumping in the 
trailer. I soaked his heel in a tub of hot water with Epsom salts (as much 
as would dissolve in the water), palpating it while it soaked. I was amazed 
at how much pus came out! I did this twice a day for about 4 or 5 days if I 
remember..I used a black rubber feed tub so it would not be slippery like a 
regular plastic bucket. I did it at feeding time with a hay bag in front of 
him so he would stand still.

Today, I would also use Miracle Clay by Dynamite in between..it really pulls 
stuff out!
