One more really important thing that I forgot to mention in my first post.? Robert said:

Robert, it is critical to figure out some way to measure the distance(s) you are riding.? Many people think they are going WAY further than they are.? Those measured miles are way different from the "I think I went this far" miles.? It's one of the biggest newbie mistakes.? It certainly was for me back in 1980!? So, if you don't want a GPS (though I highly recommend one as an invaluable tool for mileage and for figuring out your actual speed), find a friend with a 4 wheeler or dirt motorcycle or even borrow a GPS and get an exact mileage on your training trails.?
