Does anybody have any information about the GPS chips the horses wore during the course of this race? What kind of chips are these? Are they commercially available? How were the riders tracked? On a computer or a hand-held monitor?

I dont know about the chips used for this but Garmin has the Astro system which is a dog tracking system for hunting dogs. https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=209&pID=8576
