Exactly Beth! I remember listening to a well-known, well-respected lady vet 
(who is also a high mileage endurance rider) speak at a ride meeting a few 
years ago. She was trying to get us to realize how deceiving the trail we 
were going to ride the next day was in terms of its difficulty.

She described coming to the same trails for a training ride, and "riding her 
horse into an IV bag"..then she said, "And I KNOW better"..I won't name 
names, because it has no purpose, but suffice to say, we all would love to 
be as knowledgeable as this lady is..it can happen to anyone, anytime, for 
alot of different reasons!
