After having been on various boards over
the years (from local stuff to national boards; from non-existent budgets to
fairly large budgets), yes, this really is what it often means to be on a board
because you can never please all the people all the time. What is easy to
forget is that there are loads of opinions amongst the board members but
eventually they come to some kind of consensus that is most manageable given the
resources. Minutes often times do not reflect the large amount of discussion
that goes into a decision. And then, even if you do find out what goes into
the decision, you might still not agree. Be kind to the volunteersJ
