Re: [RC] Race (was: FACTS) - Barbara McCraryA very interesting idea. I have ridden numerous 5-day rides, some of the Duck's and several others. Riding with the idea that one is going to ride the same horse all 5 days, one is very careful to take care of that horse. I have never found a multi-day ride that has only one VC per 50 miles wanting for protection of the horse, providing the rider uses his head and rides with responsibility. I have to agree with Kat's statement in the final sentence. Very wise, very smart.Barbara ----- Original Message ----- From: "k s swigart" <katswig@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: "Ridecamp" <ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, September 13, 2007 2:20 PM Subject: [RC] Race (was: FACTS) It may be time for the organization to do as the Duck suggests and separate the rides from the races since he is clearly quite right that the rules necessary for safely administering each are quite different. And right now, the rules the AERC has are inadequate for safely administering a race and overly strict for administering a ride. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
