Re: [RC] [RC] Arabs off Track - Dawn Carrie

This can be caused by posting more on one diagonal than on the other...thus building up the muscling on that shoulder.  Or, by cantering more on one lead than the other.  It's easy (takes some time) to even them out by working them more on the other diagonal or lead to build up that side, if the unevenness is indeed due to lack of balanced use.  Given that the horse is off the track, I'd bet that this is the case.

Don't have to be off the track to have this kind of issue.

My gelding, Beau, is assymmetrical like this.  Some theorize that they're
necks are too short and their legs are too long so they
"split" their legs when grazing and habitually use one leg in front than the
other.  High/Low heels, one stifle with upward fixation of the patella.
Anyway, it is manageable and we were able to do some endurance despite this.

Beau, however, has a lot of Polish and Russian in his breeding, as are a lot
of race horses.  It may be more genetics than the racing?   I also wonder if
it could be the fact that he was raised on 100% alfalfa cubes plus rolled
barley...
