RE: [RC] Interesting study - Susan E. Garlinghouse, DVMIt's an interesting study, and as far as researchers go, Kronfeld is up there with the best. However, while there are some good reasons to moderately restrict protein intake in distance horses, controlling lactic acid production probably isn't one of them. The vast majority of endurance horses tend far more towards alkalosis than acidosis. The very few exceptions would be horses that truly sprint flat out for long distances, which doesn't apply to 99.999% of the horses competing at any level. JMO.
