We always have standard poodles in our rescue group, lots of times have the doodle (lab/golden/etc) mixes too, so check petfinder in your search if you're open to rescue.  Any breed of dog could have what you are looking for, a lot of times it just depends on the dog, I know, that doesn't help much :).  I have a rescue pit bull who is a great farm dog.   www.dogbreedinfo.com might be able to help you somewhat in your search. 

 

I think you could definitely find a standard poodle who would be what you want.  We also see some very strong willed and ACTIVE poodles and doodles which might be more than you want.  We sent two labradoodles to Hollywood to be in show biz, they will be very happy having a job and the place they went only takes in rescue dogs, really cool.  I heard they were both in an MTV show recently!

I hope to be moving to a home where I can finally have a dog in the near future. I thought I?d ask the group the best dog to be around cats and horses.  But at the same time be a good in the house calm type of dog.  Does anyone have a Standard Poodle that goes out on the trials with them?
