Subject: [RC] Cavalry stop

We learned this type of stop when we were kids: anchor one hand on the neck and then pull up on the other.  It works with most horses, but I did ride one mare that it had no effect on what so ever.  The only way to stop her was to circle - not always a possibility.

So true, it isn't always a possibility.  Even if that might happen, the Cavalry stop will always be my first choice from now on.  My horse also knows the one-rein stop, so at least I do have choices.  Always good to have a backup plan.
