[RC] luxury horses - Jacobsjazz

I attend a few auctions on a regular basis.  When the meat buyers are not there, the prices drop to almost half.  This would allow anyone with say 200-300 dollars to buy a horse.  People who just on a whim decides they would like a horse could easily afford the purchase price.  But most have failed, or just are not aware of the long term costs, or what the daily care requires.  Who suffers?   The horse.
My husband use to raise beef cows.  They were our pets while we had them.  If people were to put the same amount of time into a cow as a horse, the cow would be as trainable as a horse.
What about all the dairy cows that are literally milked to death.  I have seen dairy cows who do not know how to walk because they have spent all their lives in stanchions.  I have seen emaciated dairy cows dead on a trailer at the slaughter house have to be pulled off.
There is no difference between cows and horses, only what our society places on them.  I am for more local slaughter houses for horses to prevent the long trips.
By the way the most preferred horse of the meat buyers are younger dark skinned fat horses.  The meat buyers will no longer buy lame or thin horses, because of the trip required.
