[RC] Saddle fitting - not for the impatient or weak of heart - Sheila_Larsenand it's not just a journey, it's an adventure... sometimes a very long adventure.... but the thrill when you find one is awesome.. With that said and lots of experience in saddle hunting, this is what I would recommend. If possible find a good saddle fitter (that can be a challenge in itself), one that doesn't just put in on their brand of saddle but either has others or is willing to look at other brands. They watch you ride in it, which means they need to know balance.. Although I have not used one I would if it meant figuring out a saddle sooner and that is Port Lewis pad. They may also be able to recommend a saddle fitter in your area. Years ago when I bought an SR saddle he had me send a plaster mold, which I think is a very good idea rather than doing a tracing which can be tricky to do accurately. With the help of my saddle fitter, I finally found a saddle which happened to be an Arabian Saddle Company saddle and she was able to take a little stuffing out here, put a little more there, and presto, a very long and frustrating adventure came to an end. If you are buying a western type saddle it may be a little easier. The other day someone was telling me that they were thinking of buying a horse but weren't sure. They went through all the pros and cons but then they said their saddle fit the horse, I told her WRITE THE CHECK LOLOLOLOLOLOL. My goal in life is to be as good of a person my dog already thinks I am. ~Author Unknown =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
