John C led all day, with Cheryl Dell right with
him. He finished about 15 minutes ahead. Joyce Sousa was next.
8 horses finished before midnight.
The ham radio folks were fabulous sending info from
vet checks but reception was sometimes difficult.
Only 5 horses showed for BC, they all looked
wonderful on Sunday morning. There was only one metabolic
pull, Mike Foss called it a minor one, responded quickly to tratment. As
far as I know all the lamenesses were also minor. Challenging but
certainly doable trail.
Having the folks from Malaysia and South Africa was
an added attraction. They were fun and it was interesting to see how
similar their feelings about the sport match ours.
Does anyone know if they awarded a first
over all???? If not who had the fastest time, was it John Crandell? The
information on the ride wasn,t very interesting? Last year when John won it
was a bit of a big deal. Isn,t it just amazing how well he,s doing, not just a
flash in the pan!!!! Not riding the heck out of one horse to make a name for
himself. Of course he,s one of those special athletes, that can make any horse
look good. In the 80s he won the OD several times on a little cross bred pony.
Congradulations AGAIN to John & Heraldic.
