Karen, I wasn't just referring to the country.
However, if indeed the powers that be refuse to step up to the plate for animal
abuse, then yes, I would recommend a boycott to that country. There is more to
the story if you care to read it.
I was merely pointing out that riders from other
countries are supporting a venue in which this all occurred and as Tom's post
indicated, "The Aussies are amazed the Amerikans don't
find this a big deal.", and yet THEY are going to participate. Maybe they were
amazed that we were not doing anything about it, but neither is anyone else.
Oh please ... unfortunately
there is horse (and most other animal) abuse worldwide. If there were a
similar situation in my home state of Virginia on ONE farm (a very likely
scenario), would you boycott all rides in Virginia? I'd say yes ..
boycott the ride if that farm were the one sponsoring the ride or if
the farm was the property of the government, neither of which is the
case. To hold an entire country responsible for the reprehensible acts
of an individual is ridiculous. Do the people to do care for their
horses count for nothing?
Tom, I was just looking at the website for the
ride coming up in Malaysia. It doesn't look like too many people are
offended 'cause they are all going and spending money, lots of it I'm sure,
in that country. It is a shame that probably the very same people who put
those horses there, are the ones ignoring it the loudest.
