Re: [RC] [RC] horse slaughter - Patricia IsraelsonIf someone can afford to shoe a horse. Can afford to fuel a truck. Can afford camping fees to horse camp. And can afford new tack...then they sure as heck as afford to humanely euthanaize a horse, pay for a backhoe or call a rendering truck. I agree with Raven. I have an 18 year old Morgan gelding who was crippled by a previous owner. He has no cartlidge in his rt front pastern joint, and lots of bone spurs developing in there. There is nothing the doctors can do for him. I did try to find a home for him but was not comfortable letting him go. So I keep him here as a Pasture Potato. He gets bute on the days when he's hurting and Arthri-soothe to keep him comfortable. The day he can't go out into the pasture at a trot with the others, or spends the day lying down because he is in too much pain, is the day that the vet will come and take his pain away. And I will be there loving him and comforting him until the pain is gone.
