[RC] Slaughter - peanut2@xxxxxxxThank you Kat, well said. When my first horse had to be put down, I did not have my own propertery to bury him on. Nor permission to bury him where I was boarding him. Nor did I have a lot of money. This was the early 80's and there was a slaughtering plant in Plainville, CT. Not far from where I lived. I called and made an appointment to take my horse to them. So, my horse was humanely transported by me and taken in immediately so he did not have to be put into the holding pens. And I also would rather my horse be turned into something useful then just got to waste rotting in the ground. The horse was dead .... he sure didn't care! Remember, every pet you have ever owned is just food for someone in another country somewher in the world. Including cats and dogs. What animals we eat is a cultural issue, not a morality issue.
