[RC] Throw away animals (was: Saughter Update) - k s swigartKaren Everhart said: my first question is: why do folk think that they have the "right" to throw away an animal? This, in fact, is one of the biggest reasons that I am opposed to the banning of slaughtering horses for human consumption. I consider it absolutely reprehensible that, because slaughtering horses and rendering them in to something usable (horsemeat), that there are few options left to do with your dead horse but to throw it away. If the zoo will take my horse (i.e. slaughter it and render it into horsemeat to feed it to carnivorous animals), then I consider this a respectable way for a horse to go. If there are people who are willing to eat horsemeat, then this, too, is a respectable way for a horse to go. To have my horse poisoned (i.e. given massive doses of drug) and then burried or left to rot in the ground would be last on my list of choices for a respectable way for a horse to go. I despise the fact that Americans are so rich and so profligate that they are not only willing but insistent that perfectly good food be thrown away. kat Orange County, Calif. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
