[RC] Large grain meals - peanut2@xxxxxxx

I have a question for Susan G. concerning her reply on large grain meals.

Would this apply to senior or "complete" feeds also? Someone told me that
if it is a "complete" feed you can feed large amounts with no problems like
you would a "regular" feed. That doesn't really make sense to me but .....

A friend of my had her vet tell her to feed her horse a large amount of
senior feed because she thought his "top line" was too lean. This horse is
a 20 yr. old veterin Endurance horse that is extremely fit, extremely
energetic and with not a rib showing. He simply is NOT thin. He is an easy
keeper and has never been feed large grain meals.
I can't remember how much my friend told me the vet recommended but she
said it is more then the horse will eat if she leaves it out all day for
him.

Would you necessairily recommend a senior feed for an older horse that is
in great health, at a good weight and has good teeth?
