This is from a public post from Jackie Hathorn.. She
is one of my NATRC friends who finished the Tevis on
her 2nd try.

"On the California loop we came upon an obstacle. A
rider had gone over
the ledge and two rescue people were sitting on the
ledge with their
feet hanging over the side, with ropes around them.
Another rescue
person was attached to the ropes attempting to help
the downed rider. I
couldn't see the downed rider, just the rescuers. The
trail was maybe 3
feet wide. It was dark but we had a good moon. As I
approached they
asked me to take a GPS unit to the rescue people at
the next vet stop so
they could get the coordinates to the Calstar
helicopter. Natalie stood
perfectly still while they undid the ropes and got the
GPS unit up.
They handed me the unit over Natalie's rump, and I was
careful to secure
it in my pommel bag before heading down the trail. I
knew Natalie could
handle this and she stood still like a rock."

I'm so proud of Jackie for doing so well, and even
more proud of her for being so helpful..  You go
girl... (and Natalie is a flat land horse)
