[RC] Announcing the Caja del Rio BC Challenge Trophy! - magnumsmomAnnouncing the Caja del Rio Best Condition Challenge Trophy!I'd like to announce the creation of a Challenge Trophy for the BC winner at the Caja del Rio endurance ride held in Santa Fe, NM. This year the Caja del Rio will be Aug. 18th. The Caja del Rio BC Challenge Trophy is a trophy which must be won 3 times by the same person before it will be retired by being awarded to that person permanently, not necessarily on the same horse. The Qualifying winner(s) will be the person or persons awarded BC at the Caja del Rio endurance rides at a distance of 50 miles or greater. As of 2006, we have had 4 qualifying winners: 2006 75 BC - Anna Wolfe 2006 50 BC - Gail Zeck 2005 55 BC - Terry Kinter 2004 55 BC - Jeff Trinkle The Challenge Trophy will be a "Trail of the Painted Pony" pony and will be kept with the ride until it is permanently retired. This year the winner(s) will be awarded either a matching "Painted Pony" ornament or pin which, of course, will be given to the winner to keep. I am planning (but have not had time yet to complete) to create a wooden base pedestal for the pony which will have a brass plaque added to it each year with the horse's and winner's name as well as the year and the distance. I haven't seen many (any?) Challenge Trophies at AERC endurance rides so I thought it would be fun to create one! I hope it helps support the Caja del Rio Trail Fund Raiser by increasing interest and entries, and hopefully additional monies for Deirdre's project and trails funds! Kathy Myers in Santa Fe, NM
