I guess I havent really been paying attention to what people who use them do. Most vets want protective boots off. We take them off, toss them in a bucket of water. Wash down the legs and put them back on when we saddle. There's some brands that have a double velcro closure on the brush boots that works great. I use Toklats in front because I used to be able to get them that were shorter, but the last pair was long.
