My gelding has a habit of really dirtying up his water when he is in
his stall...and it extends to the big water tank outside too. 
He'll play/push around/lip at the water, then take a few sips or
drinks, then opens his mouth and lets his tongue hang out while the
water dribbles back into the bucket/tank.  He has done this since
I've owned him.  His water bucket was so dirty today that he
wouldn't drink out of it until after it was cleaned out and
refilled.  Then he started to wash his mouth out again.  And
he repeats this process as he sips/drinks water.

What should I do when I'm at an endurance ride and come upon watering
tubs laid out along the trail?  Surely other riders would not be
pleased with my horse washing/rinsing out his mouth like this.
