Re: [RC] Tevis Finish List - John TeeterOn Jul 29, 2007, at 9:08 AM, Linda Marins wrote: The way it works at Tevis (for completion) is that you cross the finish line, then have to go (@1/2 mile or so) to the rodeo grounds where you do the completion exam. That is a point of high suspense (it doesn't look as though anyone last night was pulled at the final exam, but it has/does happen ...). This morning, they are judging the top 10 for the Haggins Cup (Tevis Best Condition Award) - It's quite the ceremony, more akin to the way FEI does BC than the way AERC does it (current BC vogue is a 10 minute CRI and a 1 hour (after crossing the finish line) BC evaluation). The AERC method means you never see all the top 10 horses at once showing for BC. The Tevis (and FEI) method generally occurs the next morning and allows everyone to watch the BC judging - of course, the extended (an variable for each horse) time to prepare for the BC evaluation in this manner can be used competitively:) jt =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
