RE: [RC] Tevis holds - Don and Pam BowenThere are only 2 mandatory holds at Tevis, at Robinson Flat and Foresthill, both a one hour hold. There are many vet checks, but they are gate and go. At least that's how it was last year, and the previous 2 years before that, I wasn't at the ride meeting tonight so wouldn't know if anything changed this year :). So on all the other non-hold VCs, if you run in, pulse down, see the vet and get cleared to go, you can leave at any time. I suspect the front-runners spend as much time as they can until they see who's coming to catch them! Lest anyone thinks it's easy, it's not! After RF there is little to eat along the way. And there is all that congestion! When you come into the VCs that are not holds, you get your in-time and go to the pulse area, they will have plenty to eat/drink in that area with volunteers trying to feed you too, your horse is hungry and is eating well, you get your pulse and then look over to see the lines, so you take food with you to the vet, you get vetted in, but your horse is still hungry, so you take it back to food. You only move on when you know you have to, to beat that trail and the clock. You will have just spent 30-45 minutes at each of these non-hold VCs. FWIW. Those I believe are the sites crews can access. Michigan Bluff (which has moved) Francisco's, Last Chance, Lower Quarry. I t hink that's it. The wind flew. God told to wind to condense itself and out of the flurry came the horse. But with the spark of spirit the horse flew by the wind itself. - Marguerite Henry's King of the Wind =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
