Re: [RC] [RC] [Endurance Riding: News] Endurance events test new ideas - Maryanne GabbaniY'know, it's really nice of the FEI to re-organise endurance riding/racing for the world. But I wonder how many of the things that they are having to "fix" are actually a result of their involvement. That is, without FEI participation, would any of these things be problems? They only got involved about what...eight years ago? Horse deaths are always an issue and a concern, but I bet worldwide the numbers of deaths since 1999 has skyrocketed, especially in countries like Egypt and others in the Middle East where endurance was introduced as a way to win money. If it had been a nice, money consuming sport like polo where no one makes any money but you spend a bundle, I wonder if we'd have had the same problems. We have tons of "repair" men in this part of the world who (if you are lucky) fix part of the problem while breaking something else so that you have to call them back.
