[RC] VT 100 runners - Greenall

It's 7:43AM and as tired as we all are, we are watching the runners STILL coming in.? There are two divisions, 24 hour and 30 hour.? We will be looking for the last runner at 10AM.? Last night as I was waiting for our last horse I sat out in the woods on a stone wall watching the runners come across the finish line.? The last 1/4 mile is on a wide wooded trail and is marked on both sides with glow sticks floating in water in gallon milk jugs.? The effect is that the entire jug glows.? What a surreal experience to see the bobbing headlights pass through the jugs and hear the runners thanking their pace runner as they run that last 100 feet.? And I want to stress, they are RUNNING, not walking.? Amazing!? Dr. Nick Kohut was at the finish for the first runner who blazed across the finish around 8PM last night looking like he had perhaps been out jogging.? He sat down next to Nick and said, that was great, I have been 2nd twice and I was determined to win this year.? You look great, says Nick, I can't get over it.? Well, the runner says, it a few minutes I am going to start throwing up so perhaps you might want to move.? And he did.??
