Re: [RC] pulse rates/VC's/old way vs new - rides2farSo I guess it's no surprise that they have a lot > more regulation of endurance rides as well. It's consistent with their > culture. This should thrill Cindy. Actually talking to Jay privately I learned that the vast majority of their 50's only have the one hour hold & vet check at the half way mark. A few others have 3 legs, of maybe 25 miles, 15 miles, 10 miles, each with their own end-of-leg Vet check. If I had my choice, to be conservative, I'd have an early check to split the horses up by conditioning levels (recoveries) as soon as possible. The later checks aren't as big of a deal to me since the horses have settled in and are out of stampede mode, pretty easy to rate them and get them to eat along the trail if you like by then. Somebody there is thinking like a human if you ask me. "The farther you go the more you need rest".
