I heard a report on local radio a couple
days ago that a dog on leash at Golden GatePark in SF was attacked by a coyote (or maybe 2). A wildlife expert (maybe
from Fish & Game) talked about the growing threat of coyotes in suburban
areas, mostly to small pets, but said there had been cases recently of small
children in their backyards being attacked (I think he cited a So. CA incident),
and although it is rare, it does happen, so parents of small children should
always be vigilant when they are outside and don’t think the children are
safe and can be left alone just because they are behind a fence.
