Re: [RC] [RC] Gaited 1/2 Arabs - Sharon LevasseurI've never heard of a gaited Percheron, or for that matter a gaited draft horse of any kind. But Morgans, sure! -Sharon L. in Maine Quoting Barbara McCrary <bigcreekranch@xxxxxxxxxxxx>: Lud's "Grey, 1/2 Morgan (sire) and 1/2 Percheron did a rack when his trot became too fast. When I could no longer post, and just had to sit, then I knew he was gaiting. My childhood mare, likely a Morgan, did a single-foot. I know there are gaited Morgans, and I question whether Percherons are gaited. Someone tell me I'm wrong about Percherons, perhaps? I've known of 6 horses that were half of a gaited breed (2 Arab/Paso Finos, 2 Arab/TWH, 1 Morgan/MFT, and 1 Arab/RMH). All were gaited, and in all cases, the dam was the gaited breed. Of course, we need some examples the other way, with the gaited parent beng the sire, to see if "the rule" works. <G> Dawn On 7/17/07, Jody Rogers-Buttram <dragnin100@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: Hello RC, Someone told me that a gaited horse gets it's "gait" from the mother. I know of some 1/2 arabs that gaited very well. But they were out of gaited mares. Does anyone know how true this rumor is? Could an arab mare have a gaited offspring? Jody PS. Cash Pony I believe would gait if trained that way...but his mother was the TWH. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Finding fabulous fares is fun. Let Yahoo!
