RE: [RC] Relationship between AERC & USEF & Drug Approval - heidiAdditionally, as Steph pointed out, USEF's policy toward endurance is "No Foreign Substances"--in other words, allowing this drug does not allow it in endurance, even if a ride was a "USEF" ride (which there is no such creature).
So Kat is right--this is for events other than endurance, and as such, has no impact on us. As such, they had no reason to contact us.
That said, I still think that AERC should take the forefront in promoting "clean" competition in other areas--THAT is where we are lacking in the connection with USEF. We have policed ourselves--but we have NOT been vocal in defending fewer drugs as being in the interest of horse welfare in other areas of competition. And we should be.

I doubt the AERC was consulted, and since the approval doesn't apply to competitors in endurance rides, there is no particular reason the AERC should have been consulted. None of the USEF's Drugs and Medications policy applies to AERC rides, or any FEI competitions even if they aren't endurance rides. It states quite clearly at the bottom of the press release that this approval does not extend to events held under FEI rules. And the only endurance rides that the USEF has anything to do with (other than providing insurance through Equisure) are those that are FEI rides. kat Orange County, Calif. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
