Re: [RC] Relationship between AERC & USEF & Drug Approval - Steph Teeter

The overwhelming response from the delegates at the FEI forum in March was that Endurance should remain a 'no drug' sport.

again, I think the press release was simply about adding a 'new' drug to the already existing approved list, not a change in policy.

Last time I looked USEF's Endurance rules mirrored AERC's, including

the Endurance discipline. Additionally, our rides are either AERC

I couldn't open the web link that John T had posted in his original. I asked him if this policy would effect endurance as I couldn't read it. John thought it might and I was responding to that information in regard to my post on the relationship of both organizations in regards to endurance. He also did mention that only one USEF endurance event has been sanctioned here.

Steph, What is your feeling on how this would effect international endurance if FEI approves the drug. Aren't many countries "national" programs sanctioned by FEI. Obviously, would not be legal at FEI/AERC co sanctioned rides but how would this in your opinion effect competitions that were not co sanctioned.

I know that gastroguard is not considered a performance enhancing drug and many both in AERC and FEI do not really consider this drug a violation in spirit of the AERC drug policy. What is the probability that FEI will approve this drug for use in endurance? And if they do will this substance be considered in the same category as gastroguard?
