RE: [RC] galls in front of the girth on a young horse - heidi

What kinds of girths have you used so far?  Is saddle fit possibly an issue (ie a saddle that puts the girth too far ahead)?  Are you washing him thoroughly after riding?  (Sometimes a betadine or chlorhexadine wash helps.)  Are you using any products such as Desitin to prevent chafing?

I have a young horse just started.  He keeps getting galls on his stomach just behind his front leg, in front of the girth.  I am on my third girth. I stretch out his legs after saddling, before riding.  Any ideas? I really hate to see this happen.
