I had a rubber made and at about 2 years - probably the high UV of the FL sun had something to do with this - it developed a series of small cracks and the water would seep from these cracks. At about two and 1/2 years a big crack developed and I had to replace it. I replaced it with a metal trough and had no problems. In fact I have a couple metal troughs that have I have been using for almost 10 years and they are fine.
