Re: [RC] [RC] Beet Pulp - Dawn CarrieWe feed 7...we tie 3 to trees, two go into pens, one goes into a stall, and the subordinant horse stays loose. Sounds complicated, but everyone knows "their" spot, and goes to it...the two that go to pens go right in, and the one that eats in a stall, we let him out of the pasture and he heads right in the barn to his stall; the 3 "tree" horses go stand at their respective trees. Then we simply distrubute the buckets and pans of feed. The ones that eat the most/slowest are in the pens/stall, and the other 4 are done in 10 minutes, so in no time we turn them loose and then retire to the house till the other 3 are done. It's a system that works smoothly for us. :)
Dawn in East Texas and the herd

Since we feed over a dozen head - and just carry two full 5 gallon buckets with scoops out to the buckets hung on fences/shelters.... it's HEAVY enough DRY!! Can't imagine trying to carry 4 5-gallon buckets with wetted ration.. And you'd be killed by the herds (or they'd kill each other) if you filled just 3-4 feed buckets - then had to go back to carry the rest out for the others....
