[RC] National Championship - FEI division - Steph TeeterI've had a few questions about the National Championship regarding FEI division. The FEI division is optional, on both distances. If you want to ride the CEIY** (55 miles - senior and young rider division) both you and your horse will need to be registered with USEF, and registered with FEI (you can do this through USEF). Your horse does not need an FEI passport, but it does need proof of influenza vaccine with 6 months. Riders do not have to pay IHP Fees to USEF for the 55. For the CEIY*** (100 miles, senior and young rider) both you and your horse will need USEF registrations and FEI registrations. Your horse will need a National Passport (Int'l passport will suffice but not required) and 6 month influenza. Riders must pay IHP fees to USEF. for questions about all this FEI registration stuff contact USEF - www.USEF.org Regarding the course, and the possiblity of getting a CoC (Certificate of Capability - 12km/hr minimum speed) - I'm predicting the winning times for this ride to be around 11 hours, (maybe less if John Crandell and Heraldic come!). There are serious climbs in the first 55 miles - from 3000 ft at basecamp up to 6500ft at highest point, but it's mostly decent 2-track with rock/gravel in places, but not a lot of really wretched footing. No sand. A good hill horse with pads could move out over most of the course. When I ran this trail as part of a multiday ride, winning times were around 6 hours. The last 45 miles will be desert - flat and rolling - not very rocky, but sandy in stretches. It's 2 rides in 1!
