Re: [RC] Beet pulp... - heidi larsonmy horse always wants what I "didn't" bring!! Another words, everyone else's food is waaaay better than his. I've even tried to recreate a riding buddies VC snack for him, nope, not the same, he still wants the buddy horses' food. As for what is at VC's, the most I've seen in the Pacific Nortwest is hay, carrots/apples, people water and lately snacks for riders. Sponging buckets and sometimes sponges supplied. Never seen a mash supplied by management, that's a new one. heidi and Kalasha --- Beth Walker <bwalker2@xxxxxxx> wrote: Really? But then, I've been told I'm spoiled. Terry Woolley-Howe manages 3 or more rides down here. The vet checks always have: Hay (generally 2 or 3 kinds), wet bran mash - with and without grain, with carrots added, horse drinking water and sponging buckets (with sponges). For the riders, the vet checks have Gatorade and water, fresh cut fruit and donut holes. Sometimes other stuff as well. Lunch stops have lunch provided. She usually has arranged for horse water out on the trail if there isn't any on a long loop. All you really have to bring is an extra sponge (they can be in short supply), any elites or special food, first aid, or other personal supplies and a horse blanket if it is cold. If you go to a "Terry Ride", you get pampered. :) On Jun 27, 2007, at 9:56 AM, Spottedracer@xxxxxx wrote:I've also never seen a ride where management suppliedanythingother then the 'natural forage available at VC'... Now, I'll feed a HAY at VC that my horse isn't used to- but I'dnever feed a grain/mash/concentrate that they aren'tused to..
